Hi,

When opening Excel 97 files, I get the message "A document
with the name xxx.xxx is already open. You cannot open two
documents with the same name......". Please can you tell
me how to get rid of these messages?

Excel .xls files are held in a My Documents subfolder on
HDD2. There is also an empty My Documents folder on HDD1.
I use Win XP Pro SP2 but the problem also existed with SP1.

Many thanks.

Your Excel file associations are messed up a bit. Try resetting them by
having Excel re-register itself. From Start->Run enter "Excel.exe
/regserver" (no quotes, there is a space before the slash).
