problem displaying text

Each time I reboot, one character of text appears below the line. It is the
same character throughout the text. However, the next time I reboot, it is a
different character.

What is the problem? How do I correct it?

Not sure what you mean by "below the line". What line? In any case, the
first thing to do is go to the web site for the manufacturer of your video
hardware and download & install the latest drivers. If that doesn't solve
your problem, go to this web site:

After reading the intro, click on "Let's Dance". Follow all the instructions
on the page TO THE LETTER, just to be absolutely positive nothing nasty is
causing your problem.
