Problem Deleting Large File

I just deleted a 4.69G file. I right clicked it, hit "Delete", and
then emptied the recycle bin. Then I checked the available space on
the hard drive in My Computer and found that the amount of space on
the disk was exactly the same. I checked, the file is definately
gone. I'm very frustrated because that's alot of space to become MIA.
Has anyone had a problem like this before?

BTW, the file itself was a long home movie collection. It was
basically a whole DVD that I had stored on my computer. To play the
DVD I used a DVD Drive Mounting Software (Virtual DAEMON Manager
V3.44). Can this be part of the problem?

The DVD Drive Mounting Software probably is the cause. I'd suggest
disabling or removing that service and running chkdsk /f which will run the
disk check on rebooting. Most likely this will recover the space.

I removed the mounting software and rebooted the computer and nothing
has changed. How does one run chkdsk /f?

Start / Run and type it in. You will be prompted re. running on next
restart. Say yes and reboot and you'll see it running.
