I keep getting a message saying message from server that it failed
because such a new folder already exists when it clearly doesn't! Ay
ideas please?

Any useful information please? Version? How you tried to create one?
WHERE you tried to create one?

Outlook version?

Using MS Exchange as your mail server, or connecting just to POP3 and
SMTP mail servers?

Under what parent folder are you trying to create a new one?

Do you get the error when you first try to create the folder, or after
you enter a name and click okay?

Are you trying to create a folder in YOUR message store (i.e., in your
Exchange mailbox or .pst file, under the Local Folders root node in the
Folders List tree pane)?

Are you using the tree pane to add a new folder, or are you trying to
add a new SHORTCUT to the Outlook Bar?

If using the Outlook Bar, are you dragging over the folder from the tree
pane, or are you right-clicking and creating the shortcut that way? If
right-clicking and browsing to add a shortcut, to what are you browing
(the target must already exist)?

You never described in what environment you were trying to perform the
action (i.e., Windows and Outlook versions), what actions you
specifically were attempting to attempt, and what was the real error
message's text for when the attempted action failed. Please provide
more details so we know what you were doing to produce the problem.
