problem after reinstalling xp

I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my computer, with the result that the
content of My Documents were put in a new folder - a folder that I cannot
access. I know that my old documents are in their, because when I run my
anti-virus program I can actually see I scanning my old documents. What can I
do to gain access to this folder. I have tried via Prompt but I didn't work?

You need to take ownership of the files.
