Problem after importing the PST files

My hard drive was replaced recently. Before the drive was gone, I exported
the old emails to CD. After the new harddrive was put in, I tried to import
the old e-mails back to Outlook (Version 2002), following the advice here in
the community. Everything went in, subfolders and all. But when I tried to
open the subfolders, i get the message "Unable to display the folder.
Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location". When I
see the address, this is what it says
outlook:800101011800000074D21B00930000008CD21B0000000000A83181B159D0A64E8F9253EAAC28C66D228400000000000038A1BB1005E5101AA1BB08002B2A56C200006D737073742E646C6C00000000004E495441F9BFB80100AA0037D96E000000433A5C446F63756D656E747320616E642053657474696E67735C4

Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Importing and exporting Outlook data from one installation to another is
never advised in these groups. This is one of many reasons why.

Exactly how was this Outlook data file created and in what format? How
did you import it? What happens if you open it instead of importing it?
Did you back up your data? Do you still have access to your old hard drive?

Thank you for your reply. I called Dell and Paid almost $40 to get the
instruction. THe Dell Tech told me to use import/export at "file". The
format was pst. I copied it to the
and Desktop then to CD. When I tried to import from CD, I could not. So I
came to this page and found the question similar to mine and followed it.
That was: I need to copy the pst file to the desktop first, and then untick
"read only" and import the data. But unfortunately this problem arose.
I tried File/Open/Open outlook file, and opened the CD file copied onto the
desktop, and everything there. I guess I just manually copy these files onto
each folders? I followed what the Dell tech had told me. I guess I paid for
nothing! T

Correct.
At no point do you ever need to export or import to transfer Outlook data.
Doing so loses data every time and often corrupts your data because it is
easy to make a mistake in the process (like copying your exported file
before closing Outlook completely). It will also not allow you to select the
correct PST file format so you can easily end up creating a file that is not
compatible with other versions.
The correct way to transfer data is simply to copy your Outlook Data file
using Windows Explorer while Outlook is closed. Then you can either open it
in another installation to copy what you want from it or just configure the
other installation to use the file as its new default, using the directions
here:
