When i put in a Cd or a floppy in the DVD drive/ floppy drive and then try to
acsess it i get the following error messaage The disk in drive # is not
formatted. Do you want to format it now? But i know that the disc does have
data on it and can be read on any other computer! (audio Cd's and DVD play
fine!)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to solve this?

I looked at the event viewer i noticed that it was having problem starting
the workstation service? is this related? when i try to mannually start it it
comes up woith the following message "Could not start the Workstation service
on Local Computer. Error 1005: The volume does not contain a recognized file
system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and
that the volume is not corrupted."

All deevices in the devic e manager are working fine

Is tyhis is what is affecting the above problem.... if so how do i go about
resolving it? Do you need to know anymore information?

Thanks for your help!

Nope this is not helpfull as i don't have
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root
\Legacy_Cdrom\0000. link in my registry...... i also note it is for
win NT4 and iam running windows 2000...

Is the fact that the key is not there the problem or not?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I have just experienced a similar problem on Windows 2000 (version 5.0.2195
Service Pack 4 Build 2195). I think it may of been related to a recent MS
Windows 2000 update.

Both my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives do not read data CDs but can play audio CDs.
In addition UDF CDs can be mounted and read. Any ideas?

Thanks

Davinder
