I have set up several accounts on my PC with passwords
for log on, but when selecting folders for privacy, the
check box for 'make this folder private' is greyed
out/disabled. I have gone through every step in the
onboard help files and gone through the Network Security
Wizard also - but nothing turns this feature on?

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

That feature is only active for certain folders.
For example, if you go to the profile of the account
in use, within the Documents and Setting folder, is
this feature still disabled ?

If so, then you may be using the FAT32 instead of
the NTFS filesystem.

As Roger said, by default, this feature is enabled only for certain folders.

If you're running XP Pro, in Windows Explorer, you can go to Tools, Folder
Options, View and uncheck Use simple file sharing. This gives you the full
Security tab.

For XP Home, you have to boot the computer into Safe Mode and access the
built in Administrator account, to get the full Security tab. You can also
use this method, as a work around to Safe Mode.

And as Roger stated, you must be using the NTFS file system.
