Today , Prism video converter installed
itself on my computer .
How is this possible ?
TIA ,
D.

It is always possible when users don't exercise simple security features
of Windows XP like "NEVER TO LOGIN AS ADMINISTRATOR OR AS USER WITH
ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES".

Do you use your system as administrator for day to day use?

Or the leave the password as blank for logins (the default for the
Administrator account), or they permit physical access to their host
(like for their kids) who can boot using a CD or USB drive to use that
OS instead of the one on the hard disk, or they don't use a BIOS
password required to boot the host (and enter to change BIOS settings),
or they permit booting from a device other than the internal hard disk.

To the OP: Got kids or teens? Grant someone else physical access to
your computer?

Thanks for your replies .
I am the only one who accesses
my computer and I NEVER
log in as Administrator .
I always use my password to
log in .
Thanks again ,
D.

Did you install some software (on or before the date after which you
noticed this unwanted program showed up)? When you do software
installs, do you carefully read their screens? Do you always perform a
custom install if it is offered? Do you always deselect any unrelated
crap (foistware) that the installer may include? It's possible you
install some software in which this app was foistware that you had to
choose NOT to install (i.e., they defaulted to opt-in so you have to
deliberately opt-out). You have to be careful about the foistware.
Some installers are vaguely or negatively worded so you think are are
deselecting the foistware but actually you are selecting it (e.g.,
deselecting a checkbox may actually include the foistware).
