We have a network with XP Home on all the computers and
are upgrading to XP Pro. One computer had a printer on
it that all the other computers could access. We
replaced that one with a computer set up mostly the same
but with XP Pro and no computers with Home could see the
printers, even though they could see that computer under
Domain.

I have noticed that no other computer can get into the
shared folder also. Hard drive and printers are shared
and other computers can ping the Pro. Also the firewall
is turned off.

Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.

Yes SP2 is installed on the Pro machine. I am not ready
to uninstall it yet. Last resort.

Having trouble connecting to your site. I copied/pasted,
tried www.careyholzman.com,others and nothing worked.

Lonnie,

If you look at the thread "file/printer sharing" OP=Lane, you'll see
that you're probably better off anyway.

Carey's website needs cleaning, and Tip #1 has little to nothing
relevant to Windows XP.

I am getting from this document that it is not
recommended to set up XP Home on Domain. What gets me is
that all computers can ping each other. The Pro computer
can get on any Home computer. The Home computers can see
the Pro computer but cannot share files or printers. The
Pro computer has SFS set up and folders and printers set
to share.

Also the Pro has SP2 along with one Home computer, the
other Home computers have SP1. But there is no
difference between how the Home computers behave with the
Pro.

Any other suggestions?
Thank you
