Printing fails in Excel 2003

I have upgraded my users from Excel XP to Excel 2003 as part of Offic
2003 Std. they are running Win 2000 on the PC. At random interval
printing will fail in Excel. It will still work ok in Word and othe
apps. When you click on print in Excel the dialog box appears to sho
it is printing however nothing comes out of the printer. I have note
that the printer listed is spelt with odd charachters like boxes etc..
If I remove and reinstall the printer it will work ok however th
problem will re-appear, again randomly.
It seem slike Excel is corrupting the print driver but I cannot se
how. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I would try hooking up a local printer directly to the computer temporarily
to see if the problem reoccurs in that configuration, if not, that points
toward the print server/software as being the problem..........
