Printing command becomes default

I'm having the same problem in Word 2003 as I had in '97 in that whatever selections I make in the print dialog box usually (but not always!) become the default for whatever documents I print after, until I change the dialog box. This is very annoying if I've just printed 20 copies of something and I only want one copy of the next document, or if everything is now set to manual feed and I forget I had it set that way for one document. I can't seem to find any kind of default setting to unset. My coworker's computer doesn't do this, IT is perplexed, and I've become the problem child. Any thoughts? (this happens no matter what printer I print to, and only in Word. The other Office programs seem to be just fine.) Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!

Hi =?Utf-8?B?S2F5ZSBN?=,
I'm having the same problem in Word 2003 as I had in '97 in that whatever selections I
make in the print dialog box usually (but not always!) become the default for whatever
documents I print after, until I change the dialog box. This is very annoying if I've
just printed 20 copies of something and I only want one copy of the next document, or if
everything is now set to manual feed and I forget I had it set that way for one
document. I can't seem to find any kind of default setting to unset. My coworker's
computer doesn't do this, IT is perplexed, and I've become the problem child. Any
thoughts? (this happens no matter what printer I print to, and only in Word. The other
Office programs seem to be just fine.) Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!I'd try posing this to the word.printing.fonts newsgroup, as you'll find people there
who specialize in printing questions.

My first suggestion, however, would be to start Word while hoding down CTRL, to go into
Safe Mode. (Yes, it will look funny!) Now see if the problem persists. If it does, then
you have a Word configuration problem: either an Addin, a Registry key or your
Normal.dot template is interfering with Word's default behavior.
