I am trying to create a printer share on a Windows XP Pro SP2 network. The
Host is a Windows XP Pro Computer and the guest is a Windows ME Computer.
The problem I keep having is that when the guest computer attempts to connect
it defaults to the "guest" user account on the Host machine and requires a
password that is not set on the host machine. In other words I cannot choose
what user name I want, and I don't know what password to use since there
isn't one enabled for the "guest" account on the host XP Pro machine. I have
tried enabling all accounts in the group policy of the host to have network
access and this doesn't work either. When I connect two XP Pro machines on
this same network there is no problem, I have the option to choose the user
name and password to make the connection to the printer share. Our whole IT
team is stumped. Please help.
