Did you follow those instructions "exactly"? By that I mean, did you
install everything - drivers, software, etc. - before ever attempting to
attach the device to your computer? It has been my experience that if you
forge ahead and hook up the cables before installing everything, especially
drivers, that came with the device, no matter what you do it will not be
recognized. I had that problem and ended up having to unstall all of it,
then restore my XP computer to a date prior to purchasing the printer and
start over, being careful NOT to connect the cables until all drivers and
software were installed.
