Printer problem in XP

I have a Canon BJC 3000 printer and I am having all sorts
of problems with trying to get it to run in XP. I went to
Canons web site and installed the latest drivers which
managed to get the printer working. However everytime I
reboot the New hardware wizard detects the printer as
being new and automatically installs XP drivers which do
not work.

Any ideas how I can fix this??

Do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the printer using the following
method:

Canon printers are particularly sensitive about having the softare installed
BEFORE you connect the printer. Their software will tell you exactly when
to connect.
