I recently installed Windows XP Professional on a new
computer. The XP operating system does not have a driver
for a Lexmark WinWriter 150c printer. I have contacted
Lexmark and they advise me that they do not have a driver
for this printer compatiable with the XP operating system.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Is there a
substitute driver that can be used to install this printer
or will I have to buy a new printer to use with the XP
operating system.

Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

Hi, Cemky.

Sorry I can't help, other than to restate the ground rules:

First: Microsoft writes Windows. Hardware makers write the drivers that
enable their products to work with Windows. So, Lexmark, not Microsoft, is
responsible for your driver.

Second: WinXP uses the NT platform, which deals with hardware much
differently from MS-DOS and Win9x/ME.

IF you can find a driver that worked with WinNT or with Win2K, it MIGHT work
with WinXP. A Win9x/ME driver is not likely to work.

Greetings --

If Lexmark provides a print driver for Win2K, that might work.

Unfortunately this printer was released at the time of Windows 3.1 and
although there are drivers for Windows95, there are no drivers that will
work with NT systems which are WindowsNT, Windows2000 and WindowsXP.

Seeing as the printer is over 8 years old, I think it might be time to
consider a new unit. I also think you'll be very pleasantly surprised at
how much faster and better looking the output is.
