I had a small LAN (workgroup) set up with WIN98 and just replaced the
computers with new XP Home computers. Connected to computer #1 is a HP7110
parallel connection. It is shared and works fine all day.

My problem is this, when I come in the next day the printer can not be
accessed from any computer including computer #1 which it is parallel
connected to.

Any ideas?

Does your computer that has the printer attached to it go into Standby or
Hibernate mode during the night? If it does there is a possiblility that it
could break the connection to the printer. If this is the case you could:
A) After the computer comes out of Standby or Hibernate try power cycling
the printer
B) Change your system settings so that the computer doesn't go into Standby
or Hibernate mode

Look at the parallel port's properties, Power tab and disable the option
to "Allow Windows to turn off this device to save power". If it's a USB
device, do the same thing, but under USB Controllers.

That is probably the problem I can not check it now as I am on older
computer XP Pro and the power Tab is not there, probably a function of the
newer MB's. This is a old Pentium III.

Thanks
