I cannot install the printer driver because the print spooler service is not started. WhenI attempt to start the service I get the error 1068. Please help me....I had a printer previously working on this computer. I dont understand how the service was turned off and why it wont turn back on

Hey Prototype,

Thats a strange one.

I think a 1068 is a service dependency error. Print spooler can't start
because it thinks a service it depends on is not running.

Go into services and check its dependencies, it should just be the RPC
service, which you shouldn't be able to stop, check rpc is running while you
are there.

start/run
services.msc

Double click print spooler and click the dependencies tab.
Are there any other dependencies set besides rpc.

Is it definitely a 1068, are there any other related errors in the system
event log

start/run
eventvwr.msc

Paul B T Hodges,

Thanks! I have searched all over the place and couldn't find an
answer, yours worked! The key was checking the dependencies tab of
Print Spooler service
