i have my laptop (win xp) running with a wireless card from a lynksys
wireless router with 4 access points connected to cable modem. so basically i
have a network setup even though there is only the one computer at this time.
i just got my old computer out of storage (dell desktop xps t500 running
win98). ive pretty much decided not to add memory in order to upgrade to win
xp and network this computer (probably cheaper to buy a new pc with xp
installed). my question is, can i use the pc to act as a print server as
it is now, or should i just buy a print server. i do a lot of printing
(photos etc.) and now i need to carry the laptop to where the printer is and
connect via usb cable. i appreciate any help in advance .
oh i forgot, if i can use old pc as print server is it ok that its win98 or
does it not even have to be connected to internet....... thanks

Yes you can use the old computer as a print server, even with Windows 98.
Just make sure you have printer sharing installed in your network properties.
You don't have to be hooked up to the Intenet, but if you connect through a
router for your network, it will probably be automatically set up with
Internet Access.
