I cant use prntsc as normally, which makes it tough to do
my work.. How do I get it to work like the older versions
of windows??

Nikki,
Pressing the "PrtScn (for PrintScreen) key on the keyboard (usually on the
top row above the numbers pad) copies the entire screen to the Clipboard.
Alt + PrtScn will copy just the active Window to the Clipboard. From there
go to Paint, Word, Notepad, or any other graphics handling program and paste
the image to view it [or open up the Clipbook viewer].

It works exactly the same as all versions of windows. Were you doing it in a dos program. If so you specially configured the properties of the dos program to allow Print Screen. R/c the program, Properties, Misc and clear the check for Print Screen.

You also should have mentioned in your post it was a dos program. You wasted at least two people's time.

Greetings --

It does work exactly the same way it always has for Win95, WinNT,
Win98, Win2K, and WinMe. (Sorry, I don't remember how it was done in
Win3.x.)

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display to the
clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to
the clipboard. To view the screen capture, open a graphics program,
such as MS Paint, and press <CTRL>+V. This will paste the contents of
the clipboard (your screenshot) into the open file, and allow you to
view it or save it as a file for later use.
