Print job gets stuck before getting to printer

Hi....when I want to print from Works, the program sends the document to the printer. The problem is that it gets 'hung up' somehow before it reaches the printer...It's something in Windows. The printer icon comes up and lists the print job, says it is printing, but it's not. The printer reads as ready. I can print from other programs, normally. Also, when a print job gets stuck in this window, I tell it to delete or cancel, and it says it is doing so, but it stays in the window and holds up any other printing I want to do........I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, etc etc......help???

Sorry...."print que" was what I was looking for when describing the box where the job gets stuck.......I can't get the old job {that wouldn't print anyway} to delete from the print que box.......

Once you clear out the failed print job(s), the problem might be fixed and
new jobs will print.

Navigate to
c:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS

and delete every file found there.

Shut down and re-start Windows XP in the usual way. Try printing.

Let us know.

Thanks Tom......I ended up restoring all the settings to a time before I tried to print said document....that was okay too, but I don't really want to have to do that all the time......I've saved your suggestion for when this issue arises again, thanks so much! Robin

Tom, I did try this, and as long as the document is stuck in the que, the computer won't let me delete it out of the folder either.......bummer......

Quit and restart Windows or otherwise shut down the spooler before trying to
delete the files.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that step.
