I have an XP user on my Win2000 network who sometime
cannot print e-mails or web pages. There are no errors
reported, and it is a network HP laser. In Outlook, she
can print plain text messages, but not HTML based
messages. Doing File | Print selecting any printer and
clicking OK yields nothing. The spooler is not activated
on the client, no error or print out. The same thing
happend tring to print web pages in IE. Her documents
print fine from Word, all the time. Any ideas about this
selective behavior?

I just fixed the problem. There were many interesting Q
articles about problems printing only HTML. Issues with
the TEMP environment variable and access to the directoru
it points to, and some obscure registry key were
interesting and would have fixed most problems, but the
real issue was apparently IE.

I upgraded IE to version 6, and I assume the install
corrected what ever malady or misconfiguration that caused
the issue in the first place.
