print a "named" area

I am using Word 2003. Is there any way to name areas within my documnet and
print only those areas? i.e. Something that functions similar to the "set
print area" in Excel. Or, if that is not possible, is it possible to create
collapsible areas within the document, that "disapear" if the user does not
want to print that area. Thanks!

Word does not have named ranges - the best you can do is, I guess, to format
the unwanted text as 'hidden'.

Hi Gail-

There is no real equivalent to the way Excel works, but it may help to think
of each page in the doc as a 'pre-defined' print range. In the Print dialog
box you can specify indivdual pages as well as page ranges (such as
1,3,7-9,12-14,22). That may not give you _exactly_ what you want but it may
be useful.

Another option is to copy the passages using the Clipboard Toolbar, pasting
the entire content to a new document and printing from there. More time
consuming, but more precise.
