Is MS ripping of the Brits or does vat taxes, import duties and euro fines
(etc..) explain the price differences?

personally i would not buy vista from a shop in the UK i would buy an OEM
from a internt computer shop like

www.aria.co.uk
www.novatech.co.uk ( sorry for this kinnda
advertisng these are the only ones i know are good)
www.amazon.co.uk

then vista ultimate will only cost you £115 home premium £60 (i think) and
basic £50. only thing is change your hardware and it moans. you would have
to ask one of the VIP's here about the OEM license all i know is that you
need to buy a qualifing piece of hardware/ needed to operate the computer IE
a mouse (£2.34)

but on average i would say that the US does pay less then us brits for
vertually everthing !!!

This has nothing to do with Vista or Microsoft - we've been
getting ripped off for years.

Jan Hyde (VB MVP)

And so is Australia.

USD Vista Ultimate $399.00 RRP in Australian Dollars that is around $500.00
however we are being charged for the RRP $750.00.

I would like M$ to know that this is bullshit, import taxes has nothing to
do with software because they can package the program within that country.

And they wonder why people pirate their software:-)

M$ I dont think they read these, but boy someone has to stop this madness by
them.

Hard one.

I upgraded to Ultimate from Vista using Anytime Upgrade.

From US (spoofing by using proxy server) - approx £79 at current £-$
exchange rate.

From UK - £105.
