Price for Retail Ultimate Vista and Office 2007 in Spain

I don't know the conversion for US$ in Spain plus I assume there is some
cost to shipping but here Ultimate is $399 Full Version so must be worth it
huh?

I would just look for the upgrade. Even if you don't want to install
Windows XP for the upgrade you can do it anyway by just putting the XP
CD-ROM in the drive OEM or not when the Vista install asks for the
qualifying product.

Alias did the conversion to US Dollars. No doubt, Microsoft expects
its European customers to bear the brunt of its EU fines and penalties
and pay them.

No, Vista's process is different. It doesn't ask for shiny media to do a
compliance check. The upgrade has to be started from the XP desktop, with
XP activated and genuine. For an in place upgrade it has to be at the SP2
level. However, there has been published a work around to install it without
the qualifying media. The long term implications of this are not known.
