Previously-visited links not distinguishable...

For some strange reason, my previously-visited links are no longer
highlighted (with a different colour). In other words, I can no longer
tell from the colour of the URL link whether I have clicked on it earlier or
not. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I use IE 6 on XP HE.

Hi,
You have corruption in the History folder or it's index.dat file.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Thank you Don. I cleared the History and everything is fine now. Question
for you: what causes this corruption?

Folders like the History folder (and Temporary Internet Files and mail
folders) are constantly having new data added and older data removed. That
amount of activity provides more opportunities for corruption. Deleting the
TIF or the History folder is a common fix (or possible fix) for a number of
problems.
