--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have 2 cols as follows A1 to A5 B1 TO B5

3.5 Same
3.5 Same
3.6 out
3.7 0UT
4.3 out
2.1 in

The names in the second column are the relationship between the cells
in A2 and A1, if a2 = a1 same,a2>a1 is OUT ,a2<a1 is IN.

I want to filter out the rows immediately prior to an IN row.
in the above example this would be the row containing A5.
There are many rows and columns in the sheet so doing it manually is
not an option

Maybe you could just add another column that looks at the cell below.

Say you add column C (with headers in row 1), you could put this in C2:

=if(b3="In","show","hide")

And drag down.

(I'm not sure what filter out means--hide those rows or show those rows.)

But then you could filter to show/hide what you want.
