I need to know quickly if the File -> Open dialog in Word 2003 has a Preview
pane to allow the user to read documents before opening them. It is critical
to one of my user's workflow and he will not abandon his ancient copy of Ami
Pro until I fond out if it will do it or not!

Thanks :)

Yes, it does. In the upper right corner of the dialog, next to the Tools
button, is a button with a picture of a dialog -- its tooltip says "Views".
Click it and select Preview from the dropdown menu.

Actually there is no need to do that - the file open window view can be
switched to preview and it will display the document itself in the preview
window.

You can even download the old amipro converter via a link on my web site :)

The instructions Jay gave will set the File Open window to Preview view. Or
did you have something else in mind?

It's been a long week :(
I had in mind the document property option.
Another senior moment ;)

Yes, it's always a good idea to warn users against saving a preview picture.
