Have an XP system that some how has lost it's ability to Preview images when
you right click on them. Any ideas what caused this? Still in the process of
troubleshooting this, but thought I would ask this in case someone had any
ideas why this Windows Picture and Fax Viewer feature does not appear.

Type regsvr32 shimgvw.dll in Start., Run dialog.

Start - Run the line
regsvr32 shlimgvw.dll

Same here, same problem but when I ran referenced module I got:
"Load library failed (shmingvw.dll) Specific library could not be found."

Any other ideas, I'm on XP Home.

Try spelling it correctly. shimgvw.dll *not* shmingvw.dll

I had the same problem and have searched for days, tried a few suggestions
and nothing worked. Until I saw your post and tried it. It worked and I can't
thank you enough. I would really like to know what caused it. The only thing
I did was download and install the Windows WMF Metafile Vulnerability
Hotfix. I uninstalled it, but the viewer still wouldn't work so should I
reinstall it?
Thanks again!

so should I reinstall it?

Yes. It's very much advisable to reinstall that critical update ASAP.
