Hi,

I'm not using MS Exchange.

I'm looking for ideas, methods, strategies, add-ins that relate to the
creation and use of Outlook Client based autoresponders. In particular, I'm
interested in how to prevent and deal with possible infinite looping
situations.

I plan on going on vacation soon, and would like to try to set up an
autoreponder(s) while I'm away.

Bye & thanks

If you are not in an Exchange environment you can create a rule that replies
on all e-mails. The downside of this is that you'll have to have your
Outlook open all the time for the rules to process. Make sure you set some
exceptions (for instance based on the subject field so it will not reply on
subject with e.g. reply, failed, undeliverable, etc...)

This isn't a fail save method. If someone uses another word in his/her
auto-reply there will still be a loop. Better is to check whether you can
set message rules in your webbased mailclient provider by your ISP. These
are often configured to reply only once.

I believe you can set up a template such that the reply is only once per
sender, but I've never tried it....search www.slipstick.com for autoreply
and/or "out of office"

One other option- some ISPs allow you to set "out of office" on your POP
account through their webmail interface. I know Earthlink does.

That's the one! Thanks....
I believe you mean the following KB article;
