preventing accidental deletions

Avoid "Shift-Delete" (This bypasses the recycle bin) and perform
backups. But I do not think this is what you are looking for. Give me a
little more info on what you are wanting to accomplish. Perhaps an
example.

Thank you. You are right, this not what I was looking for, but thank
you. I have a server that has files and folders that we access via a
small wireless network. While someone was accessing the files and
folders to work on them (we need to have the ability to edit the
documents), one of my employees deleted about $10k worth of work. I
was able to recover the deleted files, but I want to prevent this from
happening again. My thoughts are that there should be some setting
that gives different users different levels of permission or some
software I can purchase that would let me do the same thing. The
machines run XP Media and we access the various documents through
Explorer. Thanks in advance.

Pay attention to what you're doing, perhaps? If that's not an option,
try setting the attributes to desired files/folders to "Read Only" and
"System."

Then use NTFS file permissions on the server to prevent people from
deleting.
