In XP Home with four user profiles, is there a way to
prevent a user from leaving a specific (or any) program
runnning after they log off (sort of like a parental
control)?

I don't see how that's possible. How do you know it's running or what makes
you think it's running?

purple,

I suspect he is using fast user switching and just doesn't know the
difference.

j,

I'm not sure whether to believe you are trying to stop your parent's
parental control software, or you are the parent trying to shut down
kazaa, or something like that.

Opting for the latter, if this is XP Home, I believe anyone can restart
the machine from the login screen, thus shutting down all running
processes in all accounts. Don't know about restarting Pro, but if you
are desperate enough you can always cycle power.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I meant to ask if there was a
way to shut down running programs when a user switches
(does NOT log out). Other than setting the computer to
shut down after a certain amount of time.

You could amnually shut down the programs before you switch or use batch
file to close a bunch of things at once, then switch.
