prevent fill in fields from moving

in a form, i added a fill in field, selected 16 max characters. but when
testing to see if it worked, i was able to keep typing and the text would
wrap to the next line. any ideas what i'm doing wrong and how to correct
would be great

We need more information

1. Version of Word

2. Is the "fillin field" a textbox field from the Forms toolbar, or
something else?

3. Did you protect the document as a form before trying to type in the
field?
