I have several XP SP2 machines that are not members of a domain. These pc's
will be added to a domain, however I want to keep users settings (desktop,
documents, etc.) from there local account so when they log on with the
domain account there will be no change. Thanks for any help.

Here are my notes from a post about this issue answered by MVP Torgeir

***
Copy local (Workgroup) profile to Domain profile

We solve this by (in the registry) changing the profile path for the new
user to point to the old user's profile folder (the user needs to log
on at least once first).

If the user is not a local admin, you might need to to something on the
permission side. Use tip 4631 and 2240 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at
http://www.jsiinc.com as a guide.
