Hi Guys,

I have a huge presentation with almost 500MB. The presentation has JPG files
with high resolution (I can't reduce the resolution because I need it for
marketing purpose) that I inserted and there description. What i need is
while i am working on the presentation i can turn the graphics off so that I
can do faster. I need those graphics to be shown while I am printing the
presentation not while I am working on the presentation.

Is there any way we keep all the graphics in one folder and in presentation
there is only link for that graphic so while I am working on the presentation
I don't need graphics to be shown but I need it when I send that presentation
to printer.

Please help in getting this done. I will appreciate all your help.

Thanks in advance.

Asim,

There is an option to 'link' pictures within a presentation.

You don't mention what version of powerpoint you are using so this is for
ppt 2003

insert menu > picture > from file > single click an example picture > click
the 'down triangle' on the 'insert' button. there is a hidden option "link
to file". This puts a "link" in your presentation to that picture from THAT
folder.

So your powerpoint presentation (ppt) stays very small and all your pictures
are called from the hard disk during a presentation.

Change the folder name and powerpoint will no longer find the pictures.

You can use this to your advantage.
Have 3 folders
c:\my low resolution pictures\
c:\my hi res pictures\

c:\linked pictures\

use "linked pictures" to put your real jpgs in.
Then you can copy in your hi or low res pictures into that folder...and
powerpoint will open the relevant images when you 1st open your powerpoint
file.

Or rename the folder so powerpoint cannot find them!

Thanks Taj and Geetesh. I am using PowerPoint 2003. I will try the solution
you mentioned but would it work when I send my powerpoint to printer because
we need those hi-res pictures as a hard copy but I don't need to see those
picture while working with my presentation.

Thanks.
