Hi all,

I'm getting ready to do a reformat of my hard drive. I've backed up my web
files. Is there anything I need to know before proceding?

FP 2002, will soon have Win XP Pro

The best option is to make sure that you have an updated copy on a remote
server, that you can then just publish back to your machine after
reformatting.

If you have backed up to a CD, you will need to copy the folder from the CD
to a folder on your HD, then remove all read-only attributes, then open the
folder in FP, and publish to it correct location, then you still must do a
complete publish the remote server once, before doing Change Page Only
Publish, which is required before any pages or navigation changes are done
on the remote site.

I have it backed up on a portable hard drive. Not sure if that makes them RO
but if it does, I can always change them.

And out of curiosity...........will I be prompted to enter the Product ID
again? I know that re-installing it on the same system is no problem, there
can be issues if too many hardware features have changed. In my case, I'm
wiping out the hard disk completely.

The problem with resting on your laurels is that eventually you are sitting
on dead branches.

JoAnn,

Since you are reformatting, it is like installing for the first time, so yes
you will have to reactivate, and you may have to use the phone option.

PS
After you finish the upgrade best to do a File Publish All the first time for each web
(preferably from the server to your local)
