I've recently updated to XP Home Edition.
Over the last 2 weeks since I first installed XP, I've added a 64meg video
card, 512 DDR memory, new modem, even a new sound card, mother board supports
XP also. I might do a couple of tasks, to many tasks. Then I shut down. But
darn it my machine will not finish booting back up, all I get is a blank
screen after XP logo with the dashing lines.
That is until I clean out the prefetch folder before I shut down. I know
this folder is to speed up your machine. So what is the problem or where can
I go to get a solution.
Yes I have re-installed xp 6 or 7 times with the same result.

Thank you.
Problem is solved to boot up. The settings in the reg. was set to 2 (boot
prefetching) so I set the value to 1 (application prefetch) and works fine
now.
Pondering the the reg. setting of 3 (boot prefetch & application pretetch).
With my system there must a glich in the boot process which conflicts with
prefetch.
