prefetch

Does anyone know what this folder is??

Windows\prefetch

It seems to save all exe files with a pf extension....

Any ideas??

Prefetch is a file where the computer stores information so your
applications load faster. You can delete all files in it safely but, the
system will automatically restore them as you use the programs. It is a good
idea to clear prefetch periodically to remove out-dated entries. After you
clear it you will notice that your PC will be slower in loading programs for
a couple of days until prefetch has restored it's self.

What harm is there in leaving obsolete prefetch files in that folder? Show
us some quantified data and not your opinion or what you saw [posted or
heard someone else say....they cause no harm whatsoever and even if you had
10,000 of them the disk space is miniscule....

So...............??????
