Prefetch folder stays Empty

Windows XP Home Ed.

Nothing seems to be getting written to my prefetch folder.

I used to delete items from there that were more than 3 days old,
exept for the layout.ini file.

I've used Tweek UI and other programs to customize and clean my system and registry.
But, I really tried to be very careful before deleting something or making a change.

I looked to see if I changed some setting, or option, such as deleting prefetch
files when exiting windows, but I haven't.

Any suggestions how I can get things to start being written to that folder again?
