Preferences problem?

I am running a trial version of a 3D program and when I render (.rpf) the
project, which is 1800 frames long I get 1800 individual picture files rather
than a single render file. At one point in the process I got a prefernce pop
up that I thought was related to files I had in a CD and I'm not sure what I
selected but that's when the problem began. How do I undo this?
