Predictive Numbering

Hi

I have a form in datasheet view that has several fields on it, but
only one of these is enabled.

If I enter a number in this field (eg:1) and then press Enter, the
curssor moves to the same field on the next record.

If I enter a number in this record (eg:2) and press Enter, the curssor
moves to the same field on the next record, but Access predicts that I
want to enter sequential numbers and enters the number 3 for me.

How can I stop access from entering numbers for me?
 
AFAIK, there is no way to turn this nonsense off.

If you are creating a user interface for others, you can work around the
problem by making a continuous form (not datasheet) to display the data.
