pre-reformatting hard drive tasks

I need to reformat my hard drive and before I do I have saved:
favourites, internet and mail settings, all data, all emails I want to keep,
all programs and drivers and updates that I could save.

But how do I save all the passwords for internet sites windows remembered
for me? I can't find my paper records as I am in the process of moving.

Is there anything else I should save too? Do I have to install any updates
before installing XP SP2, or is that a cover all?

Is there a way of saving display/mouse preferences? I dont want to save all
settings as the pc is running slow and I dont want to recreate the problems
I have now!

Mike if the system is having problems then more than likely SP2 won't
fix it. It might even get worse. That's true of any update, unless the
update is specifically targeted at fixing a problem you have. You need
to make sure your system is running fast and well, no problems with no
spyware / viruses / malware at all before updating
