If I open PPT and go to file/open, it just sits there and lockes up, I have
to Cont/ALT/DEL.
If I open my documents then click the PPT file it opens fine.
I can make new presentations and save them but the open command doesn't
work?
thanks
bruce

Sounds backwards of the usual problems with associations.

I would try a detect and repair on PowerPoint, if your version supports it.
And perhaps redo the file associations just to play it safe.
