PPT file won't open in 2002

I have received a ppt file which when I try and open, it shuts down PPT if it is already running, or opens for a split second before closing down. I am using XP Pro OS and PPT 2002 SP3

The file does open up in PPT2000 on a different PC.

You might try using Insert/Slides/From File to get at the slides in the
problem file.

You might also try opening it on that PPT 2000 PC and doing a File/Save As,
giving the file a new name. Then try opening it again in 2002. I know that
sounds odd, but sometimes it works.
