The question can not be answered right away.
If PPS attachments are not opened, this can be due to two totally
different problems:
(a) the "in general" problem with wrong Registry settings for PPS- and
PPT-files OR (b) the IE8-WinMail bug.
To determine which kind if problem *YOU* have, pls check the error
messages and post them here.

If this won't help, you are probably bitten by the IE8-WinMail bug.
For that there is no fix - except uninstalling IE8 (

As an alternative there is a workaround which reduces the problem to JPG
and TXT files (all other files - incl. PPT and PPS - opening fine).
Right-click on the shortcut that you use to open Windows Mail.
Select Properties.
In the field labeled 'Start in' change the entered value to
%UserProfile%.
Click OK.
Restart Windows Mail and try opening attachments.
