PPS with .wmv videos too slow

I have created a PPS on CD by using the Package for CD and putting them in a
folder first. Then I copied all the files to CD. When I run the
presentation on some computers the videos in the presentation either don't
play at all or take too long to begin, depending on what computer I use. I
know the CD is set up properly because it works perfectly on my computer,
it's just when I try it on some other computers that I run into problems.
For example, we inserted the CD in an Inspiron 8000, a fairly new laptop, and
some of the videos won't play. Or I have taken the CD home with me and
inserted in my home computer, Pentium IV, 850 MHz running Windows XP Pro and
the videos take a long time to load. Has anyone got any suggestions as to
what the problem might be. Are there any settings on the individual computer
to make the presentation run faster? Also, If I run the videos by themselves
they run fine, it is only when accessed through the presentation that I have
the problem.

You kinda answered your own question. "Depending on what computer your on." No
computers are the same and will play the presentation using whatever resources
they have. Regardless which computer your on, the CD is going to run slower than
the HD.

Drag the entire folder that you've burned onto the CD
onto the new/different computer. Be sure to click PPTVIEW
first then find your presentation. This will not be a
perfect solution but will improve peformance over running
it off of a CD.

If you used the Insert Movie from File method then the video is played using
the MCI player. That method of play back is much less efficient than
Windows Media Player. If you Insert a Windows Media Player Object and point
it at the wmv file it will play better. However, the slide is not aware of
the video timing so you have to manually synchronize the slide advance and
the video clip.
