How do I view a .pps file without having PPT on my
computer? I thought those files were viewable by anyone?

You need the new viewer. More information, including a link to the download
is available on the PPT FAQ at:

I did a presentation in XP with animations and music etc, and the person
viewing it had downloaded the viewer, but the animations did not work
properly at all. Should it?

I can suggest you download Winrar from www.rarlab.com. It is a great zip
program where you can split one large file into several smaller files, of
say, 1 MB each. You then email each sub-file and when the receiver receives
them all, they can open up one, and it unzips the rest to give you one large
file. As long as all the files are saved in the same folder of course.
