We have just upgraded from XP Home to XP Professional. We
want to use the Power Users Group account type but it is
not offered as an option. Only the Administrator and
Limited User options are available as they were on the
Home version. Can anyone help with what we must have
overlooked. I have searched Help, FAQs without success.
Will be grateful for any advice, best regards

Thank you for your prompt response to my enquiry to the
Microsoft News group. It was indeed helpful. I located
the Power Users as you advised and added the new user to
that group.

However I then started to get into difficulty.

When I looked at "User Accounts" through the Control
Panel the new user was shown as having "Unknown account
type" and when I went further to try and use an Access
application I was told I only had "Read Only" authority -
the same that I get when accessing from a user with
a "Limited Account" account type.

I have tried all the different variations I can think of
to get round this without success. I wonder if I could
trespass on your goodwill by asking if you had any
suggestions. I will be very grateful for any help. With
my thanks in anticipation and best regards

XP Home or XP Pro? Does XP Home support Power User type?
