Powers of numbers.

I have no problem in word 2003 typing in 10² or 10³ but I can get no higher.
I have a requirement to type 10 to the power of 8. Is this possible and if so
how do I do it?
The method 10e8 is messy and I just can't bring myself to use it!

Use a superscript.

By the way, the 10e8 notation is standard in many fields and is
perfectly acceptable. Nothing messy about it.
