PowerPoint2003 won't play avi right

frustration

The same avi animation can be played fine on my old
computer with PowerPoint 2000, it can be played fine on
my friend's computer with PowerPoint2002.
On my computer, it can play correctly in MCI media
player. But not PowerPoint2003. Disabling or changing
hardware accelaration, moving to a short path directory
did not help.
The problem is the animation keeps blinking, looks like
the animation is blocked by some floating block in front
of it.
My computer is new with Windows XP, video card: Geforce
FX 5950 Ultra with latest drive.
Codec used to generate the avi is Microsoft Video 1.

Let me start with, "I don't know" But I would also ensure that my DirectX
and Windows Media Player are the most current version and installed, that I
had all the updates for PowerPoint installed.

DirectX and Windows Media player are used in some aspects of the playback of
movies; and, of course, Microsoft is always improving the performance of
PowerPoint.

Wow, I'd be frustrated, too.

As you are obviously aware, if the file plays in the MCI Media Player, it
*should* play in PPT. The path would have been my guess, but you tested
that, and it certainly doesn't seem to be the problem.

Can you email me the AVI? I'd really like to test it here on my WinXP
machine with PPT 2003 and see if I get the same behavior as you.

Thank you for your reply, Bill. I installed all the
latest DirecX, Windows Media player, and updates for
PowerPoint, but it did not help.

Echo,

Thanks, the avi's been sent to you.
